Our User Terms and Site Guidelines include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. All reviews posted by users are subject to review prior to approval or disapproval. In order for a review to be approved, it must follow the set of guidelines listed below:

• All user-generated content cannot contain any form of profanity or vulgarity.
• Reviews cannot contain recommendations of other individuals or entities.
• Every user may leave one review per listing. Leaving more than one review per listing by the same user will result in the disapproval of all reviews by the user and banning the user from leaving future reviews.

2. By submitting a review, you confirm that you have been a client of the individual whom you are leaving a review on and you confirm that the review is true and accurately describes your interaction with the individual.

3. Once a review has been submitted, the review, along with all its contents, "Star Rating", "Name", and "Review", cannot be modified, changed, or deleted.

4. Every user is responsible for his/her user-generated content posted on this site.

5. Honest opinions about a business's products, services, or conduct are protected under the Consumer Review Fairness Act (CRFA).

6. We operate in accordance with Section 230 of the Communications Act of 1934, enacted as part of the Communications Decency Act of 1996.

7. By claiming an accountant profile, you affirm that you are the specified tax accountant, duly registered with the IRS, and possess a valid PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number).

8. By creating an account with Rate My Tax Accountant, you give us permission to send you emails, including but not limited to newsletters, responses to Discussions, email notifications, and updates.

9. We strive to keep our directory updated with the latest available information, but in between updates listings may be incomplete or out of date, and we do not control these changes: a preparer (Tax Preparer/Professional) may have started or stopped practicing, retired, moved, changed firms, or gained or lost a credential or their PTIN status with the IRS without that being reflected here yet. International preparers listed are registered with the U.S. IRS (PTIN) to prepare U.S. federal returns, not with a foreign tax authority. Listings are provided for informational purposes and are not an endorsement, recommendation, or verification of any preparer. We recommend that you always confirm an accountant's current credentials and proof of status with the IRS (and, for credentials such as CPA, enrolled agent, or attorney, with the relevant issuing or licensing body) before engaging in any professional relationship or transaction.

10. The content, listings, ratings, reviews, compilation, and underlying data on this site are provided solely for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not access, copy, scrape, harvest, crawl, mirror, index, reproduce, republish, sell, or use any part of this site or its data, in whole or in part, to build or populate a competing or derivative directory, database, dataset, or service, whether by automated means (including bots, scrapers, spiders, or data-mining tools) or otherwise, without our prior written permission. Automated access that ignores our robots directives, places an unreasonable load on our systems, or attempts to circumvent rate limits or other access controls is prohibited. We reserve the right to block, rate-limit, or pursue legal remedies against any party that violates this provision.

Our Tools section (including calculators and tax quizzes) is provided for general educational and informational purposes only and does not constitute tax, legal, financial, or professional advice. Quiz questions and answers are based on IRS guidance and each cites its source, but tax rules and figures change and may not always be current or apply to your situation. Quiz scores are stored only in a small, non-identifying cookie on your device and your individual answers are not recorded. Always confirm with the IRS or a qualified tax professional before acting on any result.
