Reviews

When users leave a review on our site, we collect all data entered by the user, and also the user's IP address and browser user agent string.

Accounts

When you create an account (for example, to claim a profile or participate in discussions), we store your email address and the information you choose to add to your profile. Passwords are never stored in readable form (see "How we protect your data" below).

Contact form

All contact form and email communications are kept indefinitely for customer service purposes, and are not used for any marketing services and are not shared with any party.

Cookies

We use only the essential cookies required for the site to function, such as keeping you signed in and protecting forms against cross-site request forgery, plus the analytics and security cookies described below. We do not use cookies for advertising.

If you take a tax quiz in our Tools section, we store a single small, non-identifying cookie on your device to remember your best score for that quiz. It contains only the quiz name and a percentage, is not linked to your identity, is never used for advertising, and your individual answers are not saved.

Embedded content

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the user has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

2. How we protect your data

• All traffic to and from our site is served over encrypted HTTPS.
• Account passwords are never stored in readable form; they are securely hashed using a strong, industry-standard method.
• Any sensitive identity-verification documents submitted to claim a profile are encrypted and stored privately, are only ever viewed to confirm identity, and are never sold or shared. (See our Profile Claim Policy for details.)

3. Who we share user data with

We do not share user data with any party, except as required by law and as specified on this page with regards to Embedded Content and Analytics.

4. How long we retain user data

All information and metadata submitted on our site is retained indefinitely, except where we are required to delete it by law.

5. What rights users have over data

Reviews on this site are published without the reviewer's contact details, so they cannot be traced back to a specific person from the public listing. We do not export, edit, or delete submitted content, except as required by law.
